It’s just for marketing attention, saved you a click.
And there really is no reason other than that. I assumed there was meaning behind it. There is not.
I thought it was bird flu awareness
I’m generally ok to have ads around the article, something has to pay the bills, but here the ads don’t let you read a single line
I can’t read a single line
The ads respawn faster than you can dismiss them
uBlock Origin + NoScript blocking google + DarkReader
Reader mode ftw
Edit: it also supports dark mode
It’s not available everywhere unfortunately :c
TIL you can actually use
about:reader?url=https://some-random-url
to get it basically anywhere!
Just Vivaldi browser. Has everything included. From ad block to dark mode. No third party apps needed.
Does it have builtin NoScript? Because that’s still needed on some websites
Yeah, in settings under site settings you can disable JS. You have full control on what websites are allowed and what not. There are loads of privacy settings and visual customization options to make it truly your browser. It’s also the best browser for desptops imo. I love the gesture function and the hot key search options you can make. Like for instance, I linked the imdb search bar to “I” key, so when I type I the address bar “I poor things” it will search ‘poor things’ on imdb. The only extensions I have on my pc are YouTube sponsor block and Proton pass, my password manager. The more third party extensions you have, the more your data is sold. Nothing is for free. We are the product.
Edit: only downside is that it’s chromium based. Fuck Google.
That’s a genius idea. A disgusting app icon that can be reverted to normal only when you pay a subscription
Reddit also tried that shit
Unless users uninstall the app
People used the Reddit app?
I’m on the free trial of DL. It’s still this ugly icon.
Yea but (on reddit at least)you get the option to change the icon. It doesn’t change automatically
Man, fuck Duolingo. The users came up with these jokes about the product because while it’s useful, it’s also annoying as hell, and they turned that into a marketing campaign.
Lazy ass mother fuckers oughta pay the users for writing their marketing plans
This was recent.
I noticed that icon in the play store the other day. I assumed it was a scam/copycat app trying to be distinct enough to avoid a takedown or something.
I’m still afraid of the duolingo’s lose streak reminder. It’s so annoying, especially in my email inbox.
