I never phased into Chrome

I tend to buy the last years iPhone when I get a new phone, it is cheaper and has less bugs.

I am still on the iPhone 12 mini

In my 2021 Seat Leon the controls for defogging the windscreen and the heated rear window (both essential in Sweden) are placed on a cluster of touch buttons below and to the left of the steering wheel.

It is insane, you have to take you eyes off the road and lean forward to press them.

Also, to activate the seat heater, you need to access the climate panel on the infotainment, so you loose the view of any CarPlay navigation.

The car has dedicated touch surfaces to change the AC temp, but the main ones are next to the power button touch area for the infotainment, and none of the areas are illuminated.

I like my car, it is fun and comfortable, but the overreliance of touch controls is infuriating at times.

I have never bought a new phone every year…

I tend to use mine until it’s EOL or until the battery is unusable.

So far I normally get 4-5 years out of my phones.

I want an interesting operating system as much as I want to live next to an interesting nuclear powerplant.

Operating systems should be boring, they should just handle basic tasks and support whatever program I am running on top of them.

Calling Recall interesting just makes me want it less, it is one more huge vector of personal information that can and will be mined or breached and then mined.

Honestly though, they should have added Qi charging to the magic mouse, as well as magnets to you could easily place it on the back of the iMac and have it charging when you leave the computer…

It would be an electric standig desk as well, battery powered obviously, and you would need to flip the table top 90 degrees up sideways to recharge the battery every other month.

In 5 years:

Youtube tests small ads in the top corner during video playback.

In 10 years:

Youtube tests small increase in size of well established corner ads.

In 15 years:

Youtube graciously allows video playback inbetween ads

Desktop macs (not tower macs) has had the powerbutton on the back for decades, it’s fine, bottom is shit though…

They had a well established place for the powerbutton, why change it?

As an IT guy, if I worked with Macs this would be terrible to work with

I had a look on the instragrsm account blåljusbilder, and you are right, there isn’t any markings for regions/counties on the cars, it might have been a period when they tried it but realized it wouldn’t work for some reason

Have they removed the county mark on the side?

It was a while since I saw a police car, but I remember seeing “Stockholms Län” on the side

Technically, Chrome branched off from Safari when they forked WebKit into Blink…

Federal law does not apply to me as a Swede in Sweden.
