My company uses SFF PCs with only a single front USB-C port and plugs a 2/4 port serial adapter into it for all locations. If everyone around it is careful, fine. But I can absolutely attest that USB-A is much more sturdy and secure, at the cost of slightly larger form factor…

Yeah, I think this was just a hard sell, and it works. My friend and I were apartment shopping and had already checked out a few places. Then we arrived to look at another complex and after meeting with them, we said we’d let them know if we’d like to move forward. They were very friendly, but pushy, saying “no, you don’t have to do that”, “you’re moving in here!”, that kind of stuff. Being naive and lazy, we just said okay and took the path of least resistance. Oh well, gotta live somewhere!

I’ve seen seasonal properties with one-way mail chutes. Looks like a mailbox, but with a deep, locking mail storage container. The lock is a deterrent as well as obscuring how many weeks of mail any one home has. Of course that would only work for small packages (like phones), but it’s better than nothing!
